Version 2.0 (06/01/2008)
NetPoint 2.0 consists of some important bug fixes and new features. Some of the
major changes you will notice are listed below.
Most of these changes were requested by NetPoint customers just like you.
So if you have a new feature you'd like to see in NetPoint, please send it in via
the Support Forum.
- Fixed: Quantity field is incorrect on the Program Component Type page.
- Fixed: An error is reported by the NetPoint Service when the database consists of
a large inventory.
- Fixed: Two search criteria entries appear when clicking the Add search criteria
link.
- Fixed: NetPoint Service leaks memory when polling large networks of ~1000 computers.

The NetPoint Service reports an error when encountering non-English (US) dates during
polls.
- Added: System Summary page
- Added: Introduction of the NetPoint Express and Pro editions.
- Added: Polling will continue for a system if a problem is encountered polling one
or more of it's components.

- Fixed: 32-bit programs on 64-bit systems weren't detected.
- Fixed: Scheduled polls hung in some networked environments.
- Fixed: NetPoint service was raising an overflow error when large memory sticks were
polled.
- Fixed: NetPoint service was raising an error when some Windows Vista patches were
polled.
- Added: Remote Troubleshooting feature that allows you to view systems from the NetPoint
web site via Remote Desktop, a local VNC client, or web-based VNC client.
- Added: Search results on the NetPoint web site can be charted.
- Added: Search results on the NetPoint web site can be exported to Microsoft Excel.
- Changed: The NetPoint service and web site were migrated from the .NET Framework
v1.1 to v2.0.

- Added: Ability to track software compliance.
- Added: Ability to poll a system on-demand.
- Added: Ability to manually delete a system.
- Added: Collect firewall information as part of inventory.
- Added: Collect antivirus information as part of inventory.
- Added: Editable purchase order, procurement date, warranty expiration, and notes
fields for a computer system.
- Added: Location field for a computer system that's synchronized with Active Directory.
- Added: Ability to page search results on the NetPoint web site.
- Added: Ability to negate your search criteria.
- Added: Improved resilency of polling process.
- Added: Filter out patches from program inventory.
- Added: Unit labels to all applicable properties and converted some to a more readable
unit size (e.g. converted RAM in bytes to megabytes).
- Added: Display the quantity for each search result when searching for unique components.
This field is also linked to a page that displays all the instances.
- Changed: Database now uses SQL Server 2005.
